Accessibility statement for HomeCare Connects
Prepared 6 October 2026
This statement applies to HomeCare Connects and the other services on the Auxtechna platform: the web application used by NHS staff, the patient portal and the homecare provider portal. It is run by Auxtechna Ltd on behalf of the NHS organisations that use it.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- navigate and complete every task using just a keyboard
- use the service with a screen reader
We have also made the text as simple as we can to understand. The patient portal is available in Welsh where the NHS organisation has switched this on.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this service is
Most of the service is fully accessible. We know one part is not:
- on some forms, when an entry is missing or invalid, the error is only shown after the form is submitted, and not every error message explains how to correct it
Feedback and contact information
If you need information in a different format, such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio or braille:
- patients should contact their hospital homecare team, using the contact details in the patient portal
- NHS staff and homecare providers should email info@homecareconnects.co.uk
We will consider your request and get back to you within 10 working days.
Reporting accessibility problems with this service
We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this service. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, email info@homecareconnects.co.uk. NHS staff can also raise it through Software Support in the service.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the accessibility regulations). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this service's accessibility
Auxtechna is committed to making its services accessible, in line with the accessibility regulations, so that the NHS organisations using them can meet their own obligations.
Compliance status
This service is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
On some forms, errors are only identified after the form is submitted, and some error messages do not suggest how to correct the entry. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 3.3.1 (Error Identification) and 3.3.3 (Error Suggestion). We plan to add inline error identification and suggestions to every form by 31 December 2026. When we publish new content we make sure it meets accessibility standards.
Disproportionate burden
We are not claiming disproportionate burden for any part of this service.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
Accessibility failures are treated as defects and fixed through our normal release process, and we will re-assess the whole service against WCAG 2.2 AA at least once a year.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 6 October 2026. It is based on a full assessment of the service against WCAG 2.2 AA carried out by Auxtechna in April 2026 and re-checked after the fixes that followed it. The assessment found 49 success criteria met, 1 partially met and 0 failed, with 5 not applicable.
